Former Manager Sues Britney Spears

It looks like Britney Spears may be spending more time at the Los Angeles courthouse. A new lawsuit was filed against Spears yesterday by her former manager, Johnny Wright.

TMZ is reporting that the two parted ways back in 2003, but the manager is claiming that she contractually owes him commissions for deals negotiated on her behalf through February 2008. Spears reportedly stopped paying Wright in December of 2006.

Wright tells US Weekly: "I have a great deal of affection and empathy for her. As you know, I was a part of her career from the early days, but we have contractual disagreements that unfortunately can only be resolved in the courts, despite my wishes!"

But the owner of the car that was damaged, Kim Robard-Rifkin, said that wasn't necessary.

Robard-Rifken tells Access Hollywood that Spears "has way more than enough problems right now."

Instead, Robard-Rifkin agreed to accept Spears's offer to have her car repaired and to provide her with a rental car during the repairs.

Sinead O'Connor Stands Up for Britney

Sinead O'Connor Stands Up for Britney Sinead O'Connor appears on today's episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show to discuss bipolar disorder and her suicide attempts.

During the conversation, the topic shifted to the difficulties facing Britney Spears right now.

“She had two babies within the space of two years, (there) doesn’t seem like a terrible amount of support from the people around her,” says O’Connor said.

“I think to attack someone as a mother is very dangerous. I would say that’s what puts a young girl on a precipice which is very, very dangerous, in my opinion. Some people may end up really regretting the way they’re treating her.”

She adds: “I think it’s terrible what the media are doing to her here. I feel so sorry for celebrities in this country [the United States]. It’s absolutely impossible to live a normal life being followed around, poor girl. We all mess up, don’t we, as moms. We never always get it right.”

As for her own children—Jake, Róisín, Shane and Yeshua, O'Connor gives them credit for helping to keep herself going. "I'd be a headless chicken without the kids, yeah, definitely," she says. "They create a routine."

Britney Spears Star of Art Exhibit

Britney SpearsBritney Spears is the subject of a new 50-piece art show called “Just Britney,” which opened at a Hollywood gallery over the weekend.

"We reached out to a number of artists and found Britney is such a polarizing character these days," Steven Corfe, a co-curator of the show, tells Reuters.

"People absolutely adored her and wanted to celebrate her bubblegum, pop princess years. Or, they thought she was an irresponsible mother and wanted to play up the drug side of things," Corfe added. "The show reflects that whole spectrum."

"She personifies our obsession with celebrity culture, and it's an obsession that won't die down no matter how far she goes off the rail," Corfe said. "We love to put people up on a pillar and we love even more to shoot them down."

"Just Britney" runs through early October at Bailey's and Barbatos' World of Wonder art gallery in Hollywood.

Britney Spears was granted one night-a-week custody of her two children

Update: Britney Spears was granted one night-a-week custody of her two children this afternon. The overnight visits will need be supervised by a court monitor. (Spears had requested that her mother, Lynne, to serve as the monitor for the visits.)

Britney Spears requested an emergency hearing this morning at her children’s custody court. At the hearing, Spears requested overnight with sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1.

Although Britney stayed at home during the hearing, Judge Scott Gordon scolded Spears’ attorney, Anne Kiley. “Your client (Britney) made a conscious choice not to do anything that was ordered,” Gordon said. That was a choice. That put us in this position."

Kiley vehemently disagreed with the judge, arguing, “I do think it is an emergency for a 2 and 1-year-old to be with their mother. I feel it warrants overnights. For a 1 and 2 year old it is developmentally and psychologically traumatizing to have their routine disrupted. They need a normal routine at home. Right now, visitation ends at 3 and at that point they are taking naps and are then woken up from their naps.”

Gordon responded, "I think you are right. These are important times. But at the same time this is a person who is dealing with challenges. And the challenges are substance abuse issues and emotional issues that could have devastating effects on the children."

The Judge did not rule on the request, instead he sent both parties to go to go to the court cafeteria to discuss the issue. No resolution has been announced yet.
