Kirstie Alley to Star in Reality Series

Kirstie Alley is the latest star to sign on for her own unscripted reality series. The show will air on A&E and is expected to chronicle her continuing battle to lose weight while raising two teenagers.

The untitled docu-series is expected to run sometime in 2010.

"Kirstie is exactly the kind of star A&E is drawn to," an A&E executive tells Variety. "Her personal life has been playing out in the media for years, but this will be the first time she'll be opening up her home to reveal her real life for the cameras."

The series will reportedly follow the actress as she starts a weight-loss program and work to raise her teenage children, William, 17, and Lillie, 15. The kids' father is actor Parker Stevenson.

Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber's Alleged Extortion Plot

Entertainment Tonight is reporting that supermodel Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber are victims of an alleged extortion attempt.

A rep for the couple has released the following statement:

A criminal complaint was filed today in federal court in Los Angeles by the U.S. Attorney's office and the FBI stating that Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford have been the victims of an on-going extortion scheme. This crime has been committed by Edis Kayalar, an acquaintance of a former nanny employed by the family. Mr. Kayalar threatened to sell an image taken of the couple's then-seven-year-old daughter. There was no previous awareness by Mr. Gerber and Ms. Crawford of the existence of the photograph when they were contacted by Mr. Kayalar. The photo was taken by the former nanny as part of a purported game without the knowledge of the parents. The couple reported the extortion threat to the police and the FBI began a criminal investigation in the matter. Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph of their daughter."

The photo in question reportedly shows the couple's daughter, Kaia, bound, gagged, and tied to a chair. According to the complaint filed in US District Court, Mr. Kavalar apparently met the former nanny in a bar and stole the photo from her home.

The couple also have a 10-year-old son, Presley Walker.

Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder may have been at the forefront of the '90s Seattle musical sound

Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder may have been at the forefront of the '90s Seattle musical sound, but he says that he may have put adolescent angst behind him and moved onto to adult anger.

"When I had a child, everyone was telling me that I was going to see the world through her eyes, and everything was going to get this nice gloss to it," Vedder told reporters at a press conference for the film Into the Wild. "I kept waiting for that to happen, and thought there was a real problem with me that it wasn't."

Vedder says, "It was a different reaction. It wasn't the glowy lovey-dovey. It fueled my anger."

Vedder has a 3-year-old daughter, Olivia, with girlfriend Jill McCormick.

He says that the current political and environmental condiation of the world fueled his emotions.

"I realized that I was getting more angry – the exact opposite – and maybe it was because of the times, three years ago and what's still happening. ... All of a sudden, I saw the world as her world that they were [messing] with. That really pissed me off."

One thing he doesn't want to pass down to his daughter are some of the lessons of his own childhood.

"I'm trying to break any chain of negative parenting that I might have survived," he says. "I know that she's going to go through a time where she has to assert her independence. I'm going to have to just encourage that."

Vedder boasts, "I think she's going to have a great upbringing. ... Already, she's [been] provided a life of travel. I didn't get to New York until 25 or Europe until I was 26. She's been to all these places six or seven times. She's beyond me in terms of her comfortability around other people, to this day."

Christy Turlington Was Not Interested in Husband Edward Burns

Christy Turlington made husband Edward Burns work for her affections.
"Friends of ours had tried to fix us up - we both live in New York, we're both pretty low-key, both heterosexual - but she was like, 'Uh, not really interested,"' Burns tells Best Life magazine in its October issue. "That did not deter me. I just wanted to get her to laugh."

Once she did agree to meet him, Burns moved fast working up the nerve to kiss her within minutes of meeting her.

"Probably within five minutes of meeting her," Burns says. "Which hurt my chances. It took her a long time to come around. But I got her good and drunk, if I remember correctly, which never hurts."

The couple have been married since 2003 and have a daughter, Grace - 4, and son, Flynn - 20 months.

Cool Stuff : Biome 5: Eco-friendly Tees for Animal Lovers...

I have been blessed with a child who loves animals and nature. Many kids like animals, my son LOVES them. He watches animal documentaries and tells the biologists at the zoo all of the animal facts they attempt to teach him. The library at his school started special ordering books to feed his interest. He's planning to be an animal rescuer when he grows up. He truly loves animals and nature.

So when I discovered the tees by BioMe5, I was absolutely thrilled. The BioMe5 alphabet shirts are all inspired by the Earth's biomes (deserts, grasslands, aquatics, forests, etc.). The collection (A - Z) is full of vibrant colors, super-size letters, and awesome animal graphis showing the residents of the various biomes.

Designed by two architectural designers in Venice, California, the tees capture the world from the child's perspective. The animal names on the shirts are even upside down, so the child can read what they say as they wear them!

Each tees is constructed from certified organic cotton and shipped in biodegradable plastic bags.

Available in sizes from 2T - 6T. (I'm crossing my fingers that they start making the tees for older kids.)

They have just released a long-sleezed version of the tees just in time for fall.

Check them out at http://www.biome5.com/
