Lindsay Davenport Takes Center Court as a Working Mom

Lindsay Davenport has always been a competitor and she's not going to let having a baby keep her off the tennis courts that she loves. She recently returned to competitive tennis just a few months after the birth of her son, Jagger, with husband Jon Leach. She even wants a shot at playing in the Olympics in 2008.

Here are some highlights from the interview:

Lindsay Davenport

On going back to tennis so quickly:
"I looked at is as a fun challenge to see if I could come back quickly and give me a little kick in the pants to get back being active. My mom went back to work after she had all of us. Both my sisters work. I feel like I want to be able to do it all, and that's being a good mother and having some kind of career, hopefully."

On finding some balance:
"I totally understand now the work mom's guilt. If I go out and practice, I feel bad about leaving [Jagger]. It's an interesting challenge."

On motherhood:
"You expect it's going to be a lot of time and commitment, and it is. It's amazing when you don't get as much sleep or you have to be on someone else''s schedule, and it isn't an issue at all. Tennis players are used to being selfish. It's actually been fun. You have a different sense of things."

Lindsay Davenport

On choosing the name Jagger:
"It's just a name we both like."

On Jagger's birth:
"We had some problems with the umbilical cord, so I had a C-section three weeks early. Fortunately or unfortunately, however you look at it, I didn't experience labor." (Jagger's umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck the last month of her pregnancy.)

On life with Jagger:
"It's truly great. He's been such a good baby so far. He doesn't cry and fuss. We're so happy to finally have him."

Lindsay Davenport

On finding out she was pregnant:
"It was shortly after I got back from Beijing, so that was officially my last tournament. I took a test without telling my husband. The first ting Jon did was run out and buy like 10 more tests. The guys are never sure."

What being a mom means to her:
"You have all these dreams for your kid, but until [he or she] comes, I don't think you have any idea what you're in for. But it means that my life is going to be bigger now, have a bigger meaning than it did before, which is an overwhelming thought."

On what kind of mom she wants to be:
"I'm definitely more on the strict side, but I think you can be both [strict and doting]. I don't want to be my child's best friend. I think sometimes that mistake is made these days. I would definitely consider myself to be more of a disciplinarian than my husband."

Janet Evans Kept Right on Swimming Through Her Pregnancy

Janet Evans Four-time Olympic medalist Janet Evans didn't let becoming pregnant with daughter Sydney stop her from keeping fit -- she just jumped in and kept swimming.

"I swam throughout my pregnancy and basically 10 days after she was born," Evans said at the 22nd Annual Great Sports Legends Dinner in New York City. "Swimming throughout the pregnancy really kept me fit and made it easier. And my OB said it was the best thing that I could do."

Her competitive spirit was intact throughout her pregnancy which caused her husband, Billy Wilson, some concern.

"He got mad at me because I was racing little kids in the pool," Evans said. "You're not supposed to get your heart rate up after you have a baby. I'd be racing little 10-year-olds and saying, 'They can't beat me. I'm an Olympian.' He'd say, 'Please, take care of our daughter.' "

The actress credits her quirky role in the film Sugar & Spice for helping her prepare for the arrival of little West. She sas, “I played a cheerleader who was pregnant with twins. I remember doing my research for it, so it’s funny now to be living out motherhood. Thank God I didn’t have twins!”

"West is just full of smiles,” the Eleventh Hour star says. “I could watch her smile for ages. She’s amazing. I love everything about West. She’s just scrumptious.”

Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber's Alleged Extortion Plot

Entertainment Tonight is reporting that supermodel Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber are victims of an alleged extortion attempt.

A rep for the couple has released the following statement:

A criminal complaint was filed today in federal court in Los Angeles by the U.S. Attorney's office and the FBI stating that Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford have been the victims of an on-going extortion scheme. This crime has been committed by Edis Kayalar, an acquaintance of a former nanny employed by the family. Mr. Kayalar threatened to sell an image taken of the couple's then-seven-year-old daughter. There was no previous awareness by Mr. Gerber and Ms. Crawford of the existence of the photograph when they were contacted by Mr. Kayalar. The photo was taken by the former nanny as part of a purported game without the knowledge of the parents. The couple reported the extortion threat to the police and the FBI began a criminal investigation in the matter. Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph of their daughter."

The photo in question reportedly shows the couple's daughter, Kaia, bound, gagged, and tied to a chair. According to the complaint filed in US District Court, Mr. Kavalar apparently met the former nanny in a bar and stole the photo from her home.

The couple also have a 10-year-old son, Presley Walker.

Melissa Etheridge Says Twins Are a Different Ball of Wax

Melissa Etheridge was already a parent to two growing kids when her twins, Miller Steven and Johnnie Rose, arrived last year, but she admits that twins are "a whole different ball of wax."

"They have their own language, they are more content to be with each other. With twins, it's like you're in their life," she says of her 11-month-old twins.

Melissa has two children from a previous relationship with Julie Cypher: daughter Bailey Jean, 10, and son Beckett, 8.

She says since having the twins, she's begun to notice inherent gender differences that she didn't notice with her older kids.

"I used to think it was society but no, no, no," she laughs. "You can put the same thing in front of both of (the twins) and they will do completely different things. He will see if he can break it, if he can throw it, and she is going to contemplate it, see how she can manipulate it."

Jerry Seinfeld: Everything is Second to Family

Once upon a time, Jerry Seinfeld was America's premiere confirmed bachelor. These days the funnyman has found happiness as a middle-aged married guy with wife Jessica and their children -- Sascha, 9, Julian, 6, and Shepherd, 4.

Recently the 55-year-old comedian talked with UK's GQ magazine about reuniting with the cast of Seinfeld, putting his stand-up career behind his family, and his new view of the funny side of life.

On his continuing career in standup:
"It's a fairly short circuit from effort to reward... it's far longer in movies and television, but in stand-up is a very direct circuit. If you get something right, you really feel it, right in your chest, on stage. I think it's an incomparable experience."

On not getting caught up in the drug and alcohol scene in Los Angeles:
"Probably I'm just naturally not inclined. It takes up enough of my time and interest just working on comedy. I just enjoy it and love doing it. I never really got distracted by other things. I think I was probably just lucky. I've certainly seen a lot of other people step into those potholes and it's very easy to do in this business."

On reunited with the Seinfeld cast on Curb Your Enthusiasm:
"It came out really good. Larry and I were both thrilled. We really felt like we added an epilogue to Seinfeld, which we never thought we'd be able to do. You get to catch up with these people ten years later and hear what they thought about it. It was really interesting to collide these two universes."

On his career taking second place to fatherhood:
"Yeah I'm doing everything! That's another great thing about stand-up - you can take time off when you want to. It's like being a plumber. You can work when you want to. I get to roll around with them [the kids] all the time - it's fantastic."

On seeing the funny gene in his children:
"Watching my kids, especially my daughter, it does seem to be in the DNA somewhere because I see her falling asleep with these big joke books. She's eight years old - she can read anything, why's she reading jokes? I think it's somewhere in the biology."
