Halle Berry is working on learning French during her pregnancy so she can talk to the baby in boyfriend Gabriel Aubry's native language.

She told David Letterman earlier this month, "We want this kid to be bilingual. I'm putting Post-it notes all around the house. You see it every day and it's supposed to permeate your brain."

Halle Berry has been no stranger to domestic violence - both as a child and as a adult.

"My mother was a battered woman and that was my childhood for a good chunk of it," the star tells NBC's Natalie Morales.

The Oscar-winning actress talks with NBC Nightly News about her abusive history as her inspiration for becoming involved with the Jenesse Center, an Los Angeles shelter that provides support for domestic violence victims.

"I care, I really care about these women and children," says Berry about the center.

Berry has found happiness with her 19-month-old daughter Hala and boyfriend Gabriel Aubrey.

Halle Berry is planning on following the current green-friendly trend and be an environmentally conscious mom-to-be.

"I'm working on the nursery, but it's all going to be organic and eco-friendly," Berry revealed. "There are so many things out now that you can use. I'm going to really try hard to make it all organic!"

"They even have organic disposable diapers now that you can use," Berry says.

Halle Berry Is Enjoying Her Pregnancy

It's been a pleasant pregnancy so far for expectant mom Halle Berry. She's even enjoying her maternity style.

"There's no bad," Berry said at a press gathering for her new movie, Things We Lost in the Fire.

"There is nothing bad about it. The morning sickness and the vomiting and the hot sweats. Nothing's been bad about it. I've loved every second of it," she said.

The current fashion trends are on her side and she hasn't had to wear traditional maternity clothing yet. She admits, "I think I feel like I'm such a slave to fashion. It's a hard concept for me to fathom that I'm going to have to wear maternity clothes."

"Fashion is on my side," she adds, "Everything is up here and shift-y, so I think I can work it out in normal clothes with normal designers in their collections until the eighth or ninth month, then I might have to break down and do maternity."

She elaborated on the news that she broke to Oprah last week that she would like to have another baby quickly after this one arrives.

"My age dictates it," she says. "I need to be ready for more. ... Not three, but two would be nice."

After years of hoping for a baby, Halle Berry, 41, is delighted to finally be pregnant. The mom-to-be talked to Oprah Winfrey yesterday about the baby, boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, keeping the baby's gender a mystery, and hoping for more kids.

Here are some highlights:

On taking more than 30 pregnancy tests:
“I’m sort of superstitious, so I saved all of the negative tests in a drawer. Don’t ask! I don’t know why, but I did. After about 35 tests, we finally got a positive test.”

On keeping the baby's gender a surprise:
"There's so few genuine surprises in life anymore that, why not have a huge surprise? And I like fantasizing one day it's a girl, one day it's a boy."

On her decision to not get married:
"I feel more married, in a way, than I ever have in two marriages before. [Aubry] really understands the spiritual connection is so much more important than the paper and the pomp and circumstance and the ceremony."

On her hopes for another baby:
"There's just one right now. But we're hoping, right after this one, to do it again."

Halle Berry Is Doing Her Baby Gear Research

Halle Berry is getting ready to be a working mom and has started researching the best baby gear.

"I'm sure I'm going to have to manage [being a working mom] a year from now," she said at the premiere for Things We Lost in the Fire. "I'm starting to investigate [buying things for the baby] and do my homework and research. There's really fabulous things. There's this Orbit baby stroller-slash-car seat that's pretty inventive and I think is really gorgeous."
